Boğazkere (Bow-aahz-keh-reh) is an indigenous Turkish variety, originating from the Diyarbakir region of South Eastern Anatolia. Colloquially known as the “throat-burner” because of its pronounced tannins. It produces wines of rich ruby colour with plum and dried fruit flavour.
1967 was the year Turkish Nationals first immigrated to Australia after both nations signed a bilateral agreement. These first steps in friendship between these two nations, gives its name to the first and only Turkish native variety that is grown on Australian soil. Grown, produced and bottled for The Turkish Drop.
