This bold red wine originates from a single vineyard near the village of Kaynaklar, south of İzmir on Turkey’s Aegean coast. Nestled at 235 meters above sea level, the site benefits from a classic Mediterranean climate—long, hot, dry summers followed by mild to cool, rainy winters. The 20-year-old vines are trained using a Vertical Shoot Position (VSP) system with single cordon pruning, and are cultivated with care under organic farming practices.
The vineyard’s soil is a textured blend of stony, gravelly elements and red clay, providing excellent drainage and encouraging deep root systems. These conditions, combined with organic methods and meticulous vineyard management, yield grapes of exceptional concentration and purity.
Harvest took place between the 13th and 17th of September 2021. The grapes were handpicked, gently destemmed, and crushed before undergoing fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A three-week skin contact period with regular pump-overs allowed for full extraction of flavour, colour, and structure. The wine was then aged for 12 months in a mix of 500L, 300L, and 225L French oak barrels—30% of which were new—adding texture, spice, and finesse. This was followed by a further six months of bottle aging to integrate the components and enhance complexity.
In the glass, it shows a deep cherry-red colour with a vibrant purple rim. The nose is generous and richly layered, offering aromas of dark berries, cassis, and subtle oak spices. On the palate, it is powerful and concentrated, supported by sweet, chewy tannins. Despite its boldness, the wine maintains an impressive balance, finishing with persistence and depth.
Awarded 17+ points by Jancis Robinson, this wine is a compelling expression of Aegean terroir and modern Turkish winemaking at its best.
