Ancyra takes its name from the very place where this journey began—Ankara, the capital of Anatolia. Derived from the Latin word for “anchor,” Ancyra has long symbolized the city founded by the Phrygian King Midas. This wine proudly carries that legacy forward, capturing the spirit of its origin in both name and character.

Ancyra Kalecik Karası 2023 is crafted from vines aged between 15 and 18 years, grown at 700 meters above sea level. The vineyard lies in the heart of the Kalecik region, where clay-loam and sandy soils combine with a continental climate softened by the nearby Kızılırmak River. The vines are trained using the double guyot method, spaced at 2 by 1 meters, with yields carefully maintained at 45 hectolitres per hectare. Grapes were meticulously hand-picked during the September 2023 harvest.

After harvest, the grapes underwent five days of maceration in stainless steel tanks to gently extract colour and aroma. Fermentation and maturation continued in stainless steel to preserve the variety’s natural freshness and aromatic vibrancy.

The wine shows a bright, light cherry hue. Aromatically intense and expressive, it opens with lively red fruit notes that carry through onto the palate. Balanced and persistent, it delivers an elegant, silky texture with refined flavours that linger gracefully on the finish.

Best enjoyed at 15–17°C, Ancyra Kalecik Karası pairs beautifully with lightly sauced pastas and pizzas, as well as delicately prepared red and white meats and fresh cheeses.
