Kocabağ is one of the oldest wineries in the heart of Cappadocia, a region steeped in rich historical and cultural heritage. This family-owned estate cultivates 64 acres of vineyards, with a strong focus on native Anatolian grape varieties. The 2024 Kocabağ Emir is a single-varietal wine crafted from grapes indigenous to Cappadocia, offering a pure expression of the region’s unique terroir.
The winemaking takes place in traditional rock-carved cellars, which naturally maintain ideal humidity and a stable temperature, regardless of external conditions. The grapes are gently handled using a gravity-based system, preserving their freshness and delicate character throughout the process.
This wine pours a clear straw-yellow colour and opens with expressive aromas of melon, pear, green apple, and a touch of honeysuckle. On the palate, it is crisp, dry, and lively, showcasing bright acidity balanced by subtle minerality and a smooth, clean finish. Delicate notes of lemon and kiwi bring added vibrancy, making this wine both refreshing and refined. Its well-balanced structure—where acidity, alcohol, and slight sweetness are in harmony—makes it a standout example of the Emir variety.
Best enjoyed chilled at 6 to 8°C, this wine pairs beautifully with cold appetizers, fried or grilled fish, lightly sauced pastas, salads, and saucy pizzas. It’s an ideal choice for warm-weather dining or as a bright, elegant aperitif.
